Nine eye Oyam North parliamentary seat

Nine people are eyeing for the Oyam North parliamentary seat which fell vacant after Col Rtd Charles Okello Engola’s death with seven eyeing the National Resistance Movement flag.

The state minister for labour, Employment and Industrial Relations was killed by his bodyguard Wilson Sabiti who in turn also killed himself and died.

Meanwhile the by election for Oyam North County which is slated for July 6, 2023 will cost Shs 900 million according to the Electoral commission.

During Engola’s burial at Awangi village Iceme sub county in Oyam district on May 13, Mr Ayo ( Kwania Mp) also chief whip of all National Resistance Movement MP’s from Lango presented the deceased’s son Samuel Okello Engola Junior as his possible replacement in the forth coming by elections along side six other candidates from the NRM.

Meanwhile Ms Queen Dorothy Amolo a US based investor who executed several development partnerships with the late minister has abandoned Oyam South where she lost the seat to gender minister Betty Amongi in 2021 has now shifted to Oyam North.

Just like other six contenders Ms Amolo is eyeing the NRM flag along side Richard Obangakene, Ambassador emeritus Julius Peter Moto,

Willy Omodo Omodo, Samuel Junior Engola and Alfred Okello Obaro and Billie Otoo.

However the lucky person to be elected as the NRM flag bearer will face off with Dr Eunice Apia Otuku from the opposition Uganda people’s Congress party who is widely backed by the gender minister Amongi.
