On Thursday president Yoweri Museveni commissioned one such hub for the Madi sub region located in the Dazaipi sub county in Adjuman district.
President Museveni while addressing residents at the gathering addressed the basic human needs : food, shelter and clothing which he said can turn into business opportunities for them.
“ it’s important that our children get the skills because when you look at the of you , the shirts you are putting on , you are supporting foreign business. You paid money to support foreign businesses yet your children don’t have money,” he told the audience.
However he added that these children need to learn how to make everything we use here so that we preserve our wealth and don’t squander it.
President Museveni emphasized that items produced must have a market within Uganda, Africa and globally promising to support the beneficiaries further to put into action what they have learned.
President Museveni further urged the industrial hub administration to also teach learners on how to make animal feeds from maize as well as other raw materials.
He committed to continue improving the social and economic infrastructure of the region and promised to work on the road from Laropi to Moyo connecting to Yumbe and enventually Koboko.
He added that with the issue of electricity the government was working on a strong power line of 409KV from Karuma to 0luyo in Oyam and the 132 KV moving from Oluyo , packwach, Nebbi and eventually to Moyo.
State House controller Jane Barekye said the Adjumani zanal industrial hub started its operations in March this year and is offering free training to close to 236 youths of whom 112 are all females and that they are all from Adjumani,Moyo and Obongi districts irrespective of their level of education.
President Museveni currently is in on an investment and wealth creation tour in the west Nile sub region themed “securing your future through wealth creation and shared prosperity.”
