Police in Kisoro are investigating circumstances under which a mob lynched Jackson Hakizimana, 33, after discovering the decomposing body of a woman in the same area.
They accused him of being part of the ploy to murder Lydia Kesiime 38 whose body was discovered decomposed in a garden.
According to the Kigezi police spokesperson Elly Maate issued a statement indicating that the incidents were recorded as double murder by cutting and by mob action on file CRB 326/2023.
However it’s noted that Kessime went missing on May 6, 2023 and her relatives reported the matter to Kisoro police station and the search for her started.
Later her body was however discovered on Wednesday May 10, in a garden. On close examination the residents established that her body has a big cut on her neck.
Meanwhile one the residents identified as Richard Muzunzi reported to police which later visited the scene and later a post-mortem was done and three people were arrested to assist in the investigation.
According to Maate while at the scene residents received information that Hakizimana who was rumoured to be i ploy to murder the deceased had resurfaced after disappearing from the area.
They chased him down and killed him on spot. The same police team also visited the some scene and took the body to Kisoro hospital for post-mortem.
Meanwhile inquires into both incidents are still on going said Maate.
