As cases of corruption rock many government ministries and agencies, Golf Course hotel one of the hotels in Kampala is on spot for swindling journalists shs 16.5Million.
According to documents and details seen by this website, the journalist who owns Elix Promotions Ltd paid total sum of shs 16.5Million to hold a dinner at the hotel last year in November following receiving hotel quotation of shs 20million but in vain.
Despite several efforts to harmonize the business relations together and have the money refunded following both parties failing to agree on terms hotel management has refused to refund the money to the client.
After the hotel receiving the money they kept tossing the client including Dorcas Odhiambo the sales and marketing executive whom the journalist (client) had initially dealt with in the transaction.
“Dorcas Odhiambo looked friendly at first but after me making adeposit of 16.5Million she changed and even got immediate one week off on return she started avoiding my calls. At one moment the hotel staff did not even what to talk to me to date prompting me to engage lawyers in the case but in vain,”the Client said.
Several attempts to have the matter harmonized and resolved between the Client and Golf Course management
hotel so that the money is refunded is still in futile as the General Manager Hotel Amos Otieno, General Manager Apartments Shirkha Sharma and Sales and marketing executive Dorcas Odhiambo keep referring the journalist to their Nairobi headquarters as if the money was paid in Nairobi.
Even when the client brought his lawyers(Agaba & Company Advocates) to hotel General Manager turned hostile to them and chased them off his office.
Its on this basis that a civil suit number 52 was opened up at Nakawa Magistrates Court between Elix Promotions Ltd vs Golf Course Hotel to date
Due to case backlog, an official letter was written and addressed to Golf Course Hotel dated 29th June to have the matter resolved out side court so that the clients money is refunded has also suffered another blockage.
Management insist the matter has been referred to hotel directors and lawyers but when we requested for contacts we were denied.
As society watch dog, Golf Course hotel management has failed to honour their obligation to provide service to the client which tantamounts to corruption, breach of clients right to service and loss of revenue.
