The news of the fatal accident that occurred on March 25, 2023 along the Kampala Entebbe expressway struck the media like a flash in the clear dry skies. Just like other mid career professionals, Edward Muhumuza held lofty ideas and was so ambitious about changing society as young as he was.
He was just beginning to reap big from a budding journalism career being a reporter at Nation Media Group Uganda.
Having been born Kyegegwa District in July 1988 he grappled with early childhood upsets and vulnerabilities of life to power through Wekomiire and Mubende Army Secondary Schools on wards to career building.
He had passion for journalism from early age that led him to pursue a diploma in journalism at Uganda Media Consultants and Trainers School where he graduated in 2013 and worked his way through Uganda Broadcasting Corporation, Nile broadcasting services, Vision’s Urban Television and later to NTV Uganda where he scooped an award last year from Uganda National Journalism Awards held by African Centre for Media Excellence.
As a reporter, he was meticulous with research because he never wanted the facts in his reporting to be questioned.
He went to great length to make sure that what he produced was something he could proudly defend.
However on his fateful day Edward Muhumuza was on his way to Nkumba University to submit coursework and return to Kampala to co chaperon the launch of SDA church’s Hope Television which went to air as its co architect by fate transitioned up to the creator in heaven.
Death is so painful but the rattle is more pronounced when it occurs so suddenly to a person as close as our staffer and a friend.
