Uganda Railways officials return to court for alleged abuse of office

Uganda Railways officials have recently found themselves entangled in a legal battle pertaining to allegations of abuse of office.

This development has seen them make a return to court to face the charges brought against them.

Grace Opoka Amony first appeared in court on October 27,2023 before senior principal Grade one magistrate Abert Asiimwe at the anti corruption court in Nakasero , Kampala and was charged with abuse of office.

Meanwhile Amony is facing the charges alongside a senior procurement officer Tom Kimera and a senior human resource officer Maliza Mukembo Tibewolwa.

The alleged abuse of office carries serious consequences, as it undermines the integrity of the railway service and impacts the nation’s transportation sector.

In response to these allegations, the accused Uganda Railways officials have been required to attend court proceedings to address the charges. This legal action serves as a reminder that accountability and transparency are paramount in ensuring efficient and trustworthy public service delivery.
