Tarehe Sita: UPDF soldiers embark on noble mission to beautify Kabale town

Tarehe Sita: In a remarkable display of unity and dedication, the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) recently undertook a transformative initiative, bringing cleanliness and rejuvenation to the vibrant town of Kabale.

As part of the annual Tarehe Sita celebrations, UPDF soldiers rolled up their sleeves and took to the streets, ensuring the town sparkled with newfound beauty.

Led by Maj Godfrey Demoi Otim, commanding the 31 Battalion, alongside Kabale’s Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, and Kigezi Regional Police Commander,  Ibrahim Saiga, the initiative aimed to clean the town.

Under the scorching sun, UPDF soldiers along side  Kabale’s Resident District Commissioner, Godfrey Nyakahuma, and Kigezi Regional Police Commander,  Ibrahim Saiga, the initiative aimed to clean the town showcased their unwavering commitment to the welfare of their fellow citizens.

Armed with brooms, rakes, and garbage bags, they diligently embarked on a mission to rid Kabale town of litter and debris, leaving a trail of cleanliness in their wake.

The soldiers, donned in their distinctive uniforms, worked tirelessly, sweeping away the remnants of yesterday and paving the way for a brighter future. With each stroke of the broom, they demonstrated not only their physical strength but also their determination to create a positive impact on the community they serve.

RDC Nyakahuma emphasized that the UPDF’s participation in the cleanup is a gesture of gratitude towards Ugandans who supported the NRM during the war by providing intelligence, sustenance, and clothing, among other essentials.

However this event, which coincides with the historical day when the National Resistance Army (NRA) launched its first attack in 1981, has evolved into a tradition that goes beyond military significance. It has become a symbol of unity, community engagement, and service to the people.

The streets of Kabale soon witnessed a remarkable transformation. Piles of rubbish vanished, making way for clean sidewalks and pristine public spaces. The collective effort of the UPDF soldiers left residents and visitors alike in awe, instilling a sense of pride and appreciation for their selfless service.

Beyond the aesthetic improvements, this noble undertaking served as a powerful reminder of the strong bond between the UPDF and the people of Kabale. It showcased the military’s commitment to fostering a safe and conducive environment for both residents and businesses, ultimately contributing to the overall development and well-being of the town.
